Dave has quite a few of Jes Goodwin's Eldar in his collection, harking back to the very first Rogue Trader releases. So many in fact that I've decided to divide his Eldar between two posts. Notice Dave has decided to keep the edges of his bases black. You may recall that Fraser Grey did the same thing - simple but very effective.
These particular Eldar are an absolute riot of yellow - Dave has done Eldar in colours other than yellow as you'll see from the next post! In my limited painting experience yellow is a particularly difficult colour to do well, and Dave's results are stunning.

Finally a lone Eldar:
These eldars are pure jewels and the paintjob is really up to the models (just look at the one with voice amplifier). This yellow has such a good contrast with the darker parts.
ReplyDeleteI am about to paint these very same models and was balanced between light or darler tones but this series of photo has made my choice, Birght it is !
Congrats Dave.
His yellow is marvelous and the blue gems make a nice contrast.
ReplyDeleteThank for pics.
Bye Nico.
What a great paintjob! Just work so great...I feel I have to paint some old eldars now :)

Gorgeous painting on these vintage Eldar warriors from the heady days of Rogue Trader 40k!! I do believe Dave Perry has them as the Eldar mercenary group called the Void Watchers, their all yellow body armor is unmistakable! Back in 1st edition days I wanted a Void Watchers army but I came in right on the cusp of the Eldar going from roving bands of mercs and corsairs to a properly fleshed Eldar army with all the Aspect Warriors and Warlocks and such in place. I'd still love to paint up some of these cool vintage Eldar figures, though!!
